The junior high students will be using a new curriculum this fall entitled The Questing Year written by Richard S. Kimball and Tirrell H. Kimball. This program engages the children in four different quests connected through the central themes and purposes of faith development and social action. The children will develop an age-appropriate understanding of their religious identity, their church, and their spirituality. They will become excited about the great mystery and understand and accept the approaches of some others to it and be engaged and enthusiastic about their own approach to it. They will practice quiet meditative thought. They will know the UU principles and learn about several famous UUs. They will attempt to live the UU principles and engage in working for social justice. In the spring the class will use the curriculum Neighboring Faiths by Christine Reed and Patricia Hoertdoerder. Students will learn about the history and development of different faith traditions and then visit 3 places of worship. They will also create their own worship experiences.
